Following is a note from the Artist’s son:
“It has been 10 years since my mother passed away after a brave battle with breast cancer. From time to time I think of her.
Many things have changed in the last 10 years. I was yet to finish school and join university, and there was hardly any sign of the facial hair that covers most of my face now. And of course there was no indication of a day like today that would require me to hide my already hidden face with a mask! But things have happened, and often happened without a good reason.
With time and my awful memory, you are slipping away again. But these paintings of yours that I have witnessed emerge and take shape on canvas seem to persist. Thankfully, no disruption, not even death could cut the umbilical cord that connects them to you.
I don’t really know where these paintings are, and what role they play in the minds and walls of the people who collected them. But I would like these works to touch the lives of people, who still connect with you and your paintings. I am grateful that I can ensure today that your works become a part of their lives, as they have been yours and mine.”
